What is sustainable fashion?

First, let’s start off with the definition of sustainable. Per the Mirriam Webster dictionary, “sustainable” means, “of, relating to, or being a method of harvesting or using a resource so that the resource is not depleted or permanently damaged.” When applied to the fashion industry, sustainability means creating clothing that does not deplete or damage the resources that were used to create that clothing. At Curate, we believe that all clothing should be made with respect to the environment and our resources. 

What is ethical fashion?

Ethical fashion is clothing that is made under ethical working conditions. This include several factors, such as: fair wages, safe working conditions, no child labor, providing medical insurance for employees, nondiscrimination, no use of forced labor, regular hours of work, and much more. We believe that every employee that makes the clothing that we wear should be treated fairly & justly.

How do you ensure the brands you partner with are sustainable and/or ethical?

We do an extensive amount of research before deciding whether to partner with a brand. Our core pillars include the following: sustainable materials, sustainable practices, and ethical working conditions. We make sure that the brands we carry believe in and implement sustainable & ethical practices.

Local Delivery, Shipping & Returns

Do you offer local delivery for your Laredo, Texas customers?

Yes, we offer FREE local delivery for our Laredo, Texas customers on orders over $50.00 USD. There is a $5.00 local delivery fee for all orders under $50.00. To qualify for local delivery, the shipping address must be within a 5 mile radius of our location.

Do you offer free shipping?

Yes, we offer FREE shipping on orders over $150.00 USD, with a shipping destination in the United States. Use the discount code FREESHIP at checkout.

Do you offer worldwide shipping?

Yes, we offer worldwide shipping via DHL Express. The shipping fee depends on where the shipment is to be sent to & can be calculated at checkout

When will my order arrive?

At checkout, you will be able to choose among different shipping services. After your order has been packaged & shipped, it can take between 1 - 8 business days to arrive, depending on the shipping option that you chose at checkout. We do our best to ensure the timely delivery of all our orders. When selecting a shipping option, please note that we are only provided with an estimated delivery date from our carriers. On occasion, these packages can arrive outside of the estimated timeframe. 

Please note orders received after 12 p.m. CST will be shipped out the following business day. 

Do you offer returns & what is your return policy?

Yes, we offer returns & exchanges. To initiate a return, please email us at info@shopthecurate.com. Please be sure to include your Order # in the subject of the email. We can offer a refund for the returned item(s) or exchanges for the same item(s) in a different size. Virtual Appointments

Do you offer virtual appointments?

Yes, we offer virtual appointments. To schedule an appointment, send us an email at info@shopthecurate.com, and include the days/times that work for you. Once we've set a date/time, we'll set up a video call. Prior to your appointment, you can identify which items you're interested in seeing or you can give us a general idea of what you're looking for, and we'll put some items together for you to view. 

Virtual appointments are a fun shopping-from-home experience that allow you to get a better feel for the items prior to making a purchase. 

Is a purchase necessary to book a virtual appointment?

No, a purchase is not necessary to book a virtual. This is simply an opportunity for you to check out our items in a more interactive way. After your first virtual appointment, we'll send over a special discount code that you can feel free to use towards your next purchase.

You mention giving back is one of your core pillars. How do you give back?

Giving back is one of our core pillars at Curate. We donate 1 tree per order via our partnership with One Tree Planted. One Tree Planted is a non-profit organization focused on reforestation, rebuilding forests after fires and floods, providing jobs for social impact, and restoring biodiversity. With our donation, One Tree Planted plants trees around the world, contributing to a positive envrionemtanl impact.

Packaging & Carbon Emission Offset Practices

Every month, we neutralize our shipping emissions via Offset. Offset allows us to neutralize our shipping emissions that contribute to climate change. As our customers, you are supporting an environmentally-friendly business that invests in sustainability initiatives to counteract the environmental impact of shipping. Offset works with Pachama and contributes to certified projects, complying with the best-in-class carbon offset protocols and standards.

All of our products are shipped in 100% compostable mailers or 100% recycled boxes & with sustainable packaging materials. Our tissue paper & stickers are FSC certified, meaning that Forest Stewardship Council certifies that the paper products are sourced from a forest and supply chain that is managed responsibly and sustainably. The paper is also acid-free & printed with soy-based inks. The paper is made from cellulose fiber where the active acid pulp is eliminated during processing. It is also lignin- and sulfur-free, which means that the ink won’t transfer from the tissue and the paper won’t leave behind any of these chemicals when decomposing. Soy inks are an eco-friendly alternative to petroleum-based inks, made from soybeans, a renewable resource. The tape we use on our boxes features a renewable, reliable, and biodegradable plant-derived adhesive and backing. The GreenWrap bubble wrap we use is naturally biodegradable, compostable, SFI-certified, and fully recyclable.
